Md State High School Golf Championships!! finished yesterday at Potomac Ridge!!

Yesterday I had the opportunity to watch the very end of the Maryland State High School Golf Championships at Potomac Ridge. The place looked amazing, especially with the very full parking lot. But more importantly it reminded me of a music festival, there were people all over the property just hanging out and enjoying a spectacular day. It was fun just driving in and seeing some of the tee shots – the ones I never make!

Mike Harvey and all of the staff at Potomac Ridge do a fantastic job everyday, and it showed perfectly yesterday. I spoke with several coaches as well as a couple of the contestants and everyone was very pleased. These events are the future of golf – these are not only the golfers of tomorrow, but also of today.

 fourgirls

To prove my point is the 2nd place winner in the girls’ category, Mckenzie Cutter. Mckenzie is a Junior Member at Potomac Ridge. And she has a fifth, a fourth, and now a second place. Next year – Mike is predicting a first!  She is the one all the way to the right in this picture. I spoke to Mckenzie and some of the other girls and they were all very nice and very professional. It is inspiring (ok, also scary) to watch them golf!

scoreThanks to Mike and John and all the staff for a great event and for being strong advocates of youth golf. This was a special event for us and for all of the families and especially the competitors.

Greetings Faithful Irregulars!

So come on over and have some crab soup and visit my booth – and Isabel and I (more commonly known as “Girl on Mars!” will be performing on the acoustic stage at about 1:30 on Saturday for… oh,.. maybe 10 of 15 minutes! really!

VOLUNTEERS: I will be manning this booth mostly myself, and will probably just close it when Isabel and I have our set, but if any of you would like FREE tickets to the festival with VIP PARKING … let me know! I have the tickets and could sure use a spare hand! Many thanks to all the people, like Janie, who always try to help out. Shelly Ford has already volunteered – but it is a long three days! Thanks for thinking of it!

Give it a listen! I think it is pretty good!

Towcaddy: this is really cool
April 1, 2009, 6:55 pm

OK, I think I have relearned how to put a video on the blog. You all really need to see this. I will try to make the story brief, but it is a cool one. A friend called up to introduce me to a friend that had invented a new golf product. The inventor, Howard, was asking my opinion on the PGA show, and I encouraged him to also attend the Golf Industry Show (which is the big one for my association, the NGCOA). At the show, the Towcaddy was of course in the new product section. Well the TV guys got interested and Towcaddy got lucky and ended up on the clip below on Saturday of the matchplay! If only Tiger had made it the viewers would have even been more! BUT he got great marketing that day and now the Towcaddy is here! I have one in my office, and Howard is working (with a bunch of groups) to create some scholarship programs around the Towcaddy! I think it is really a cool device and… it is actually made in America! I hope you like it!

DON’T forget April 10th at Queenstown at 7:15 am sharp for you Irregulars! Keep sending new names!

A Word about Twitter and the Calendar
March 25, 2009, 5:49 pm
Filed under: Friday Morning Irregulars, Golf stuff

ball-cap-newOK, so what is the stuff on the left, anyway? Well, Atlantic Golf has a great blog now (see Darth Vader golf!) and yes, I have signed up for “Twitter”. My only intentions with it are the same as for this blog. Thanks again to Garret Ohm, who set it up for me, but my updates and tweets and whatever are going to be about our charity work, golf, the environment… and fun! That seems to really work -thanks G, that was all you.

SO, if you follow people on Twitter, please sign up! I will tweet about the Irregular dates, about the Classic and about other community events. I will not be tweeting about the twins (Dion and Isabel are 9! How is this possible…) and how amazing they are – as much as I would like to! and thanks!

The CALENDAR on the left is new and will really hold a lot of information. You can see all of our upcoming events there, and I think if you click on it, you will get additional stuff. Let me know! This is all new! BUT for you Irregulars reading this… THAT IS WHERE TO FIND OUT WHERE WE ARE GOLFING! The calendar! Amazing!

and check out the Atlantic Golf Blog too! Much better than this! You can even tweet your tee times now! Really! You can find out more about that in the post on the AG blog.

If you are an Irregular reading this, let me know what you think! Hope to see you in April!

NOTE!: faithful Irregular Patty Lewis is helping the American Business Women’s Association and their first annual golf tournament held on May 14th! Please contact me for more information about the event and what the ABWA does. Patty, I have the PDF files for the event, but haven’t figured out how to post one of those yet! I will be happy to email them to anyone who is interested!!
